Vacation Rentals Under Rent Control
How to Apply for a Vacation Rental Licence:
If your property falls under rent control and you want to use it as a vacation rental, you must be licensed through the Office of Consumer Affairs.
Below are the steps you need to follow.
Complete and Submit the Application
Fill in the Vacation Rental Application form (enclosed/provided).
Submit it to the Office of Consumer Affairs either:

Application Review
An Officer will review your application to make sure all details are complete and correct.
Receive Your Invoice
An invoice showing your property name and the correct fee amount will be emailed to you.
You must take this invoice with you when you go to pay at the Government Cashiers
Payment details:
Payable to: “Accountant General”
Methods: Cash, credit card, or cheque

Send Proof of Payment
Once you have paid in full, you must send a copy of your receipt to:

Processing Your Application
After proof of payment is received, your application will be processed.
Inspection or Photos of the Property
An Officer will contact you to:
Arrange a suitable time for an inspection, or
Request photos of your property, as required for granting a licence.
Licence Issued If your inspection (or submitted photos) meets the requirements, your licence will be approved. You will receive a Vacation Rental Licence valid from 1 September to 31 August.
Important Notes
No Refunds
If your application is denied or your property does not pass inspection, the $1,500.00 fee is non-refundable under the Government Fees Act 1965.
Fee Is Per Property/Unit
The $1,500.00 fee applies to each property or unit you wish to use as a vacation rental. (Example: 2 properties = $1,500 x 2 = $3,000.00 total.)
Fees Are Not Prorated (Vacation Rental Licences are valid from 1 September to 31 August, regardless of when you apply.
There is no rolling renewal date. Even if you apply later in the year, the full $1,500.00 fee is still required.
If You Stop Doing Vacation Rentals
If you decide not to continue offering your property as a vacation rental, please inform Consumer Affairs so you can be removed from the Vacation Rental Inventory by emailing: hamarshall@gov.bm
